Philly! | 3-Day Work Trip

Last June, I had the opportunity to travel to the city of brotherly love for a work trip. As an avid traveler, I was thrilled to visit a new city and explore Philly - as much as one can explore in 4 days. This is a recap of my 3-day work “adventure” in downtown Philadelphia.

Exploring the City

I live approximately 2-4 hours away, depending on the mode of transportation. I left home early and took the Amtrak Acela, so I was in the city - at my hotel - in two and a half hours. I decided to explore the nearest 10 blocks on foot before settling in for work. I started by visiting Independence Hall, which is where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed. It was incredible to see such an important piece of American history up close. After that, I walked over to the Liberty Bell Center to see the iconic symbol of American independence.

On the afternoon after the last day of meetings, I made my way over to Reading Terminal Market, which is a large indoor market filled with local vendors and delicious food options. I tried a classic Philly cheesesteak - not for the first time, but for the first time IN PHILLY - and it did not disappoint. I also picked up some tasty treats to take back home.

Work Meetings

The main purpose of my trip was to attend and facilitate a 2-day publication steering committee. Over the course of two days, I attended a variety of workshops and sessions led by researchers and experts in the field. I also had the opportunity to network with other professionals and learn about the latest trends and developments in the industry. Most of my coworkers are also remote, so it was a great opportunity to meet some amazing people in person.

Day 3

Overall, the trip was great. I don’t like that I didn’t get to see much of the city, but the parts I saw were beautiful and the city's history and culture is so rich. Oh, and the food is delicious. I can’t wait to visit again on my own time and at my own pace, to discover all that it has to offer.
