On: Brain Fog

If you've spent days/weeks feeling overwhelmed, fuzzy-brained and finding it difficult to focus, you should know you're not alone. Brain fog is real and is mainly anxiety and stress-induced, and can feel like you're sleepwalking through life.

We're told that the brain is "computer-like", and there are programs running in the background that use up tons of memory and make everything else run slowly. And I hate that analogy, because that as intelligent as it is, that "brain" is connected to a human being, and you - human - always comes first.

Last week, I read a tweet that described exactly how I was feeling. And the writer said brain fog feels like playing Scrabble. You know you have all the right letters to make the perfect word. But you can’t seem put the letters in the right order. P.S. I just started a new job, so my fuzzy brain and lack of focus was as a result of anxiety, and my growing to-do list.

But regardless of what's causing yours, I think we can all relate to how terribly this affects the goals we set out to accomplish.

See, in a perfect world, you'd have all the time in the world to accomplish all the goals on your to-do list. And you would never be distracted - be the perfect focus machine. You'd never doubt the steps you take, or feel shame when the results don't reflect your dreams. But the world isn't perfect, and to be honest, if it was, then you and I wouldn't be in it.

So, here's my heart's song to you:

You are WHO you are meant to be without meeting every expectation of you.

Write it out and remind yourself of this everyday. Because everyday is gifted to you with an immense measure of grace, and supply FOR THE DAY. So, as you plan for tomorrow, remember that you are free to embrace THIS glorious day, no matter how it turns out.

You, my sweet potato are the perfectly cast lead of your life, so play the role as only you can.

Remember, that "every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling "This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this! And each day, it's up to you, to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say "No. This is what's important."

Beautiful things take time. You take time.

xo,

Igho.
