DIY Mini Dress with Feather Trim
Project | DIY Mini Dress with Ostrich Feather Trim
Simplicity Vintage Pattern 7072
“I do take my work SERIOUSLY, and the way to do that is not to take yourself TOO SERIOUSLY”
This dress is an update to this one, using the same simplicity vintage pattern as a base.
I made this for my birthday last year, and absolutely love how it came out. Just FYI: there's a difference between a feather trim and a feather boa. I initially ordered a feather trim but to get this exact look, you want to order a boa and use it as a "trim". This is the one I used.
Here are my measurements, if you need the reference:
Size 14
Bust 34" | Waist 28" | Hips 38"
Height: 5'7"
Materials
For this project, I used:
2 yards of ankara fabric
2 meters of Ostrich feather trim
Simplicity Vintage Pattern 7072
A long zipper (preferably an invisible one if you have it)
Sewing pins and fabric scissors
Measuring tape/ruler
Tailor's chalk or fabric marker
A sewing machine and iron
